The German Bundesliga has celebrated former Black Stars striker Tony Yeboah on the 26th anniversary of his debut and first goal for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Yeboah joined Frankfurt from Saarbrucken in 1990 and went to score 70 goals for the club between 1990 and 1995.

Yeboah won the goal king award in Germany in 1993 and 1994 and he went on to play for Leeds United, Hamburg, and Al-Ittihad before retiring.

The German Bundesliga’s English Twitter account paid homage to Yeboah in a tweet to mark the 26th anniversary of his first match for Frankfurt.

Yeboah’s debut was against Karlsruhe and he scored the second goal in a 3-0 win for Frankfurt. His goal was the second and it sandwiched strikes from Manfred Binz and Janusz Turowski.

Frankfurt ended the 1990/91 season in 4th place with 40 points and they qualified for the UEFA Cup the following season.
