Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan says saving his life means a lot to the nation especially the people of Northern Ghana.
He exclusively spoke to Citi News at his palace saying, “We are so sorry to hear that Dr. Choggu is not well and we have come out anyway today to tell the people of Tamale to do their best and at least see to Dr. Choggu’s illness.”
Naa Dakpema Dawuni Alhassan insists well meaning Ghanaians should support the family of Dr, David Abdulai Choggu during this trying moment of his life.
“Dr. Choggu’s sickness is the sickness of everybody in the north because we all see what he has been doing at his clinic over there.”
“He doesn’t treat people and take money. He does the treatment free of charge and so we are appealing that at least everybody should come out and contribute some little money to see to it that Dr. Choggu is treated.”
He underscored the necessity of religious leaders to intensify their prayers for the northern Star, Dr. David Abdulai Choggu.
“We also want the Muslims in Tamale to pray for Dr. Choggu.”
Affectionately called Dr. Choggu, the medical philanthropist, Dr. David Abdulai has over the years served as a Saviour to the needy in the Northern Region who cannot foot their medical bills at the Tamale Teaching Hospital and other private clinics.
Dr. David Abdulai Choggu operates two free health facilities at Gurugu and Wamale.
He established the main one at Gurugu known as Shekhina clinic in 1989 and has since saved the lives of hernia patients, HIV positive patients, the mentally ill and the homeless.
Now that the homeless saviour, Dr. David Abdulai Choggu’s health is in indeterminate state, the chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Dawuni has taken a commanding lead soliciting support for him.
Government’s intervention
President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday August 10, 2016 ordered Dr. David Abdulai’s transfer to Accra.
He was subsequently airlifted there for medical services lacking at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
