The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has directed John Oti Bless to render an unqualified public apology to the Chief Justice and other Justices of the Supreme Court after he made slanderous comments about them on a radio station.

The Speaker said everything pertaining to Oti Bless’ nomination as Deputy Minister for Local Government would be put on hold till he apologizes.

On the floor of Parliament today [Friday] Citi News‘ Duke Mensah Opoku reported that the Speaker said “one of the last things that I would like is to have this House and the head of another arm of government having problems.”

“I have therefore, behind the scenes, taken some steps in consultation which I have discussed with some members of the leadership of the house to see how this matter can be resolved. As a result of those consultation, it is important that the member of this House that made those statements must apologise,” he said.

The order for this apology follows the emergence of audio evidence which had Oti Bless verbally attacking the Supreme Court on the same Montie FM ‘Pampaso’ programme, that saw the host of the show and two panelists imprisoned for contempt.

The MP accused the Chief Justice of “conniving” with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in an attempt to reverse the election results in 2008 and in 2012 among other allegations.
