Ghanaian international Baba Rahman is expected to join German side Schalke on loan from Chelsea in the coming days, Citi Sports understands.

The 23-year-old defender will return to Germany just a year after signing for the Blues from Augsburg.

The move to Chelsea is hours away as the player’s Ghanaian manager Kurt Okraku has flown to Germany to help tie up the final details of the move.

Chelsea paid a whooping 21 million pounds for the defender and were initially reluctant to let him leave after just a season.

But Rahman enjoyed maximum success under now Schalke manager Markus Weinzierl during his Augburg days and has opted for a return to Germany.

Citi Sports understands that other clubs like Wolfsburg and Lazio wanted to take Baba on loan but the Ghanaian opted for Schalke.

Rahman played in 15 league games and 22 games in total in what was a topsy-turvy for the dethroned English Champions.
