GCAA holds plane crash simulation exercise [Photos]

Major roads close to the Kotoka International Airport were earlier closed to traffic Saturday morning to allow for a full scale emergency simulation exercise. The exercise started at 9 am and ended around noon.

The exercise planning team comprised representatives from the Ghana army, Ghana air force, 37 military hospital, the Fire Service among others who were mandated to develop and conduct the exercise.

The exercise dubbed “Abronoma” was in line with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and International Civil Aviation Organisation Regulations.

These regulations enjoins Ghana to conduct a full scale emergency exercises every two years to evaluate the state of preparedness in handling emergencies at the airport.

The exercise saw portions of the Tema Motorway, Spintex and East Legon Police Station roads blocked to vehicular traffic.
