The National Accreditation Board (NAB) has given the go-ahead to the Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) to run science and technology courses based on Islamic principles.
Mr. Muhammad Husaini Bagnya, the Head of Communications and External Affairs of the MIST, said the institute, affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the University for Development Studies, would start operations in September 2016.
He said the institute was established by the Madina Foundation for Science and Technology, a Non-Governmental Organisation, and funded by the Qatar Foundation.
Mr Bagnya also noted that the institute would initially have schools for Engineering, Business and Technology.
The School of Engineering would run courses in Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering while the School of Business and Technology would run programmes in Accounting, Marketing, Human Resource, Banking and Finance.
Mr. Bagnya said MIST would also build a hospital to cater for the health needs of the Madina Community.
He said the hospital and the institute would be opened to Ghanaians and outsiders who would need their services.
Mr. Bagnya said well-motivated lecturers and staff had been recruited for the institute and the hospital which would also create job opportunities for the community.
He appealed to Ghanaians eager to further their education and seek quality medical attention not to hesitate to access the services of the institute and the hospital.
