The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has accused the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) of copying his policy initiatives and trying to implement them.

According to Nana Addo, his government is still committed to providing the basic infrastructural needs of Ghanaians which includes quality education and health care.

[contextly_sidebar id=”WDUmTPITo90jgzH7xmpYePDC8CRKaR6B”]He said when voted into power on December 7, his government will revitalize the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and find sustainable methods of making sure that the financing of the scheme is secure.

But Nana Addo, who was addressing a fundraising event at Hartford in the US, organized by the NPP Connecticut Chapter, said he is now careful when outlining his ideas for fear of plagiarism.

“There is every reason for us to pay attention to revitalizing the NHIS, it is important that we do so and make sure the financing is secured. We have some measures but I dare not say them in public because if I do, tomorrow Mahama will take them as his own. Any time I open my mouth and say something, the next day he parrots it. So I have to be careful.”

NPP prepared to govern

Nana Addo also indicated that, his party already has a team prepared to take over the administration of the state if the party wins the polls.

Addressing the forum, he noted that NPP is equipped with people “who are capable of giving our country a solid government and a new direction for the Ghanaian people.”

“We are ready for that challenge. First of course, we have to win elections in December and with our common enterprise and common effort, every indication is that we are going to do it.”

Nana Addo further assured Ghanaians that the NPP was “going into office not to fill our pockets but to provide service and leadership for our people.”
