22 students awarded for WASSCE exploits in Ho

Twenty-two (22) students who excelled in the 2015 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) in the Ho Municipality, have been awarded cash prizes and learning materials by the Member of Parliament for the area, Benjamin Kpodo.

The award scheme, in its fifth year, was instituted by the MP to keep students in school and enhance academic performance in the area.

[contextly_sidebar id=”hEWIHUS2oZaFNwo2YZQWwmo7esKLw7Y7″]The students from eleven (11) out of the fourteen (14) participating schools, were awarded for their outstanding performance in Business, Science and other programmes in the 2015 WASSCE.

Tettevi Jennifer and Sewordor Rejoice Mawusi, emerged best performing students in Business and Science respectively from Mawuko SHS, where Nnenna Agorson Favour came out as the overall best performing students of the school.

Addobea Koranteng Constance and Celestine Tyawo Etornam, were awarded best performing students in Business and Science respectively from OLA Girls SHS, while Sedinam Doh Abigail emerged as the overall best performing student from the school.

For Mawuli SHS, Agbetor Eunice and Ting Livingstone Kofi, were awarded for their outstanding performance in Business and Science respectively, while Nyamadi David Mawuenyega emerged as the overall best performing students.

Others include, Obianim Ansah,Shever Aglili Nyuiemedi,Kingley Keh, Akoto Anthony,Adjoh Aku Sefakor,Kwame and Dogbe Frederick from Taviefe SHS,Tanyigbe SHS and Sokode SHTS.

The rest are Bedzrah Godwin,Agidi Marvelous Sedem,Dadugblor George,Tetteh Andrew,Yaw Karimu Mudu Francis,Agboli Vincent and Agbekuadzi Freda from Sacred Heart SHS,St Prospers College, Sonrise, Star SHS and Wallahs Academy.

Each student went home with a cash prize of GHC 400.00 and school materials.

Speaking to Citi News, the MP, Benjamin Kpodo, said the awards scheme since its inception has yielded dividends.

He promised to expand the scope of the scheme to cover other subjects. He thanked the former MD of National Investment Bank, Mr Ernest Agbesi for his support, and called on other stakeholders to support the initiative.

The Deputy Regional Minister Francis Komla Ganyaglo, who present at the ceremony, said the government had demonstrated its commitment to education by introducing policies and interventions to improve access, enhance equity and guarantee quality of education to children of school going age.
