The Children’s Heart Foundation Ghana (CHF Ghana) is set to host the 2014 edition of the Benefit Oscar Night.

CHF Ghana is a non-profit, non-governmental voluntary organization committed to the promotion of health and the socio-economic well being of children with heart disorders.

The Mission of CHF Ghana is to improve the quality of life of children with congenital heart disorders, by assisting financially for their medically required open heart surgical operations. Every year over 200 children are diagnosed with congenital heart disease in Ghana, and often their parents cannot afford the thousands of Euro’s it will cost to save their child’s life. CHF Ghana’s focus is to provide financial relief to the parents who cannot afford the expensive but live saving surgery.

Over the past 4 years CHF Ghana has raised funds to pay for 37 heart operations. Last year CHF Ghana paid a total sum of 210,970 GHC to pay for 22 heart operations. These life saving surgeries from shunt implants to full open heart surgery each ranging from GHC2,000 to GHC14,000. All this support comes from from generous donors made up of individuals and corporate bodies through a variety of events with the most notable event being the CHF Ghana’s Annual Charity Ball.

This years Benefit Ball will be held on Saturday, the 7th of June, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, and is themed “Oscar Night”. This event is modeled after the ever popular Oscar Awards event held annually in the USA.
Proceeds raised will be used for the payment of the Open Heart Surgeries for Ghanaian Children (up to 16 years old) who have a medically diagnosed heart condition (such as hole in heart), need surgery and their parents cannot afford to pay.

The Trustees; Mrs. Jacqui Ahomka Lindsey, Mrs. Surama King, Miss Folake Ojo, Mrs. Dzigbordi Dosoo, Mrs. Grace Krobo- Edusei, and Mrs. Karen Hendrickson, have all been actively and publicly involved in raising funds and saving the lives of sick children in Ghana over the last four (4) years.
