The Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor, has warned personnel of the Service from taking partisan positions as the country prepares to go to the polls.
According to Mr. Kudalor, his administration will not hesitate to punish any officer whose action or inaction brings the name of the Service into disrepute.

“The Police administration affirms the dispensation of its duties before, during and after election. Personnel are therefore warned from taking partisan positions in the discharge of their duties. Anyone found culpable will be severely punished by the Police administration. Professionalism must and should be our watch word always.”
Asantehene urges IGP to be non-partisan
His comments come days after the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, admonished the Police Service to work for the country, putting the needs of the country first above any political party.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II said this when he welcomed the IGP on his first visit to the Ashanti Region, six months after his appointment.
He questioned the friction between parties and the tension that rises during election years, and expressed disappointment about inappropriate behaviors and language used during the period.
He also asked the IGP to ensure that the Police across the nation enforces law and order, before, during and after the elections.
