Hundreds of residents that were displaced by the recent torrential rains in some parts of Kumasi are pleading with government to come to their aid.

Some of the areas include the Bekwai and Santasi roundabout, Kwadaso nsuom, Fourth gardens and Ahinsan estates.

Citi News’ Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Hawa Iddrisu who visited the area spoke to some of the distressed victims.

One of the residents said, “I live at TUC and honestly, my house and its immediate environs get severely affected when the rains come in. It is a huge bother to me when it is about to rain. I keep praying that the rain water doesn’t invade my home.I believe the KMA would do something about this when they hear this report.”

Another resident added, “We didn’t sleep last night. We stayed up outside all night till dawn. The water only seems to be clearing now. So I’m pleading with the KMA to help with the situation even if it’s just to fix the sand pits the miners left behind.”

The rains which started on Wednesday evening flooded many homes and buildings in the locality.
