The Electoral Commission’s (EC) exhibition of the voters’ register will begin today [Monday], running till Sunday, August 7.

The exhibition of the voters’ register will give voters the opportunity to verify their personal details ahead of the general elections in November.

[contextly_sidebar id=”K1IX2QdhNHhV7c0MJEAJDSLfUb35oeTx”]Persons whose names were deleted from the register after using the NHIS card to register as proof of citizenship, following the Supreme Court ruling ordering same, will also be allowed to re-register onto the electoral roll during the first 10 days of this exercise.

The EC in a statement said it has printed and distributed the provisional voters’ register to all its District Offices across the country for deployment.

It has also ensured that 29,000 Biometric Verification Devices (BVD) with backups will be deployed to all polling and exhibition centres.

The commission has already indicated that prospective voters will be required to be verified biometrically during the exercise to help reduce most of the challenges associated with the BVD on the election day in November.

The EC’s statement also assured that all the exhibition officers have been fully trained and are ready to handle themselves well for the duration of the exercise. Senior EC officials have been tasked monitor the exercise to ensure to ensure it runs smoothly.

The EC has also revealed a national multi-platform Voter Support Centre will be opened at the Commission’s Head Office to respond to all exhibition and election related questions and inquiries.

The commission has described the Voter Support Centre as one of its innovative strategies being implemented to enhance communications and engagement with registered voters for free and fair electoral processes.
