The Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) will appear in court on Monday, June 9, 2014 to defend its case against the National Labor Commission (NLC).

The NLC dragged POTAG to court to enforce its directive for polytechnic teachers to call off their three-week old strike.

POTAG has been on strike for almost a week now after government failed to pay their book and research allowance for the 2013/2014 academic year.

This situation has led to students in some polytechnics across the country protesting to ensure their lecturers return back to the classroom.

Speaking to Citi News earlier this week, some of the aggrieved students appealed to their teachers to call of their strike to enable them write their exams saying, “we just want our lecturers back so that we get our exams done and then get out of here.”

However, students of the Kumasi Polytechnic have threatened to take legal action against government if it fails get the polytechnic teachers back to the classroom.

POTAG has since refused to comment on the matter until court proceedings have been concluded.
