The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has hit back at the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for claiming that Nana Akufo-Addo is deceiving Ghanaians when he compared Ghana’s growth to that of Cote d’Ivoire.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, who is on a campaign tour across the country ahead of this year’s election, has constantly spoken highly of the developmental strides being made by Cote d’Ivoire under the leadership of Alassane Ouattara.
[contextly_sidebar id=”p84LVNQ2WCwjWVssmejaNS0icu2ATeND”]Nana Akufo-Addo has said Cote d’Ivoire has successfully overcome the effects of its 2011 civil conflict, and become an economic powerhouse in Africa due to good leadership.
Nana Addo had promised to chart a similar course if elected President in the November polls.
But government has described Nana Akufo-Addo’s reference to Cote d’Ivoire as a perfect development example as a coverlet analysis which lacks basis.
A Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has said Ghana has seen higher growth rates than Cote d’Ivoire saying Ghana is better than Ivory Coast.
But speaking to Citi News, a Private Legal Practitioner and member of the NPP, Samuel Abu Jinapor, said the quality of leadership being offered in Ivory Coast is exactly what Nana Akufo Addo will do here in Ghana.
“We all know what happened in Ivory Coast, that country was in tatters; and it took Alassane Ouattara to make it what it is today, and that is what Nana Akufo Addo is talking about.”
Abu Jinapor argued that “the Ivorian model Nana Addo is talking about is what he intends to implement in Ghana if elected President. He will modernize agriculture and industrialize the country.”
The Legal Practitioner also took on Felix Kwakye Ofosu saying “if we have such people in government who fail to appreciate how a country can develop, no wonder we are where we are today, this country is heading to the abyss if such people run affairs in this country.”
