The Upper East Regional Secretariat of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), says it is in full support of the suspension of the party’s General Secretary and Youth Organizer.

The CPP suspended its General Secretary, Nii Akomfrah, and the National Youth organizer Mr. Ernesto Yeboah, for publicly contradicting the party Flagbearer’s stance on the $100,000 ford gift given to President John Mahama, which some have said constitutes a bribe and conflict of interest.

It further condemned the petition forwarded by the youth wing of the party to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ),seeking investigations into the President’s acceptance of the gift.

“We the Upper East Regional Executives must also emphasize that, the decision of  the National Youth Organizer of the party,  Mr. Ernesto Yeboah,  to  file a petition to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) asking the institution to investigate the President over the allegation without also consulting the top hierarchy of the CPP party is a violation against the party’s rules and regulations. These acts, we note, simply   flouted  the party procedures and is contrary to the collective position of the party,” the statement signed by Alhaji Baba Hussaini Ibrahim, Upper Regional Chairman of the CPP noted.

I’m not ashamed

But the embattled National Youth Organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ernesto Yeboah, has said he is not ashamed to be suspended from his position for waging war against corruption.

Ernesto to face disciplinary committee

Both Ernesto Yeboah and Mr. Akomfrah are to face the party’s disciplinary committee to answer to the charges of indiscipline leveled against him.

He earlier told Citi News that his letter of suspension has been referred to the legal affairs office of the youth league for advice.

Mr. Akomfrah has also served notice he will take action against him because in his view, his suspension breaches the party’s procedure.

Below is the full statement:

PRESS  RELEASE  ISSUED  BY  THE  DIRECTORATE  OF  THE  UPPER  EAST REGIONAL  EXECUTIVES  ON THE SUSPENSION OF TWO NATIONAL EXECUTIVE MEMBERS

We the Upper East Regional Executive of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), wish to express our disappointment of the attitude of the General Secretary, Nii Amarh Akomfrah and the National Youth Organiser, Ernesto Yeboah,  for flouting the  party’s  directives.

We the Upper East  Regional Executives of the CPP viewed the comments of  the General Secretary and the National Youth Organizer of the party,  cautioning the flag-bearer of the Party, Mr. Ivor Greenstreet,  for not consulting the party’s  hierarchy  before  making comments about  the Car Gift Saga’ involving President John Dramani Mahama , as very unfortunate and baseless.

We the Upper East Regional Executives must also emphasized that the decision of  the National Youth Organizer of the party,  Mr. Ernesto Yeboah,  to  file a petition to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) asking the institution to investigate the President over the allegation without also consulting the top hierarchy of the CPP party as a violation against the party’s rules and regulation. These acts, we note, simply   flouted  the party procedures and is contrary to the collective position of the party.

We wish to state emphatically that the youth in the fifteen constituencies in the Upper East Region also disassociate themselves from the National Youth Organizer,  for his petition to  CHRAJ to investigate the President Car  Gift Saga.

We the Upper East Regional Executives of the CPP , therefore, by this Press Release are   calling on the two suspended national executives to cease fire and to accept the suspension and to face the disciplinary committee for the sake of the party’s  unity.

The two must take  note that the  chastising  of the flag-bearer and other National Leadership of the Party by them in the media landscape  does not only  affect  the flag-bearer  and other National Leadership of the Party,  but also affect all the Regional , Constituency and Polling Station Executives  of the party including the party’s  Parliamentary Candidates  aspirants .

The two suspended National Executives must rescind their decision and face the disciplinary Committee. It is very important for the two to note that suspension does not mean one has been expelled from the party. One could be exonerated if one has a good case to make about his or her action or inaction before the Disciplinary Committee.

To sum up, we  the leadership   of the CPP in the Upper East Region,  stand the flag-bearer and the Chairman and the leader of our great party  and    are therefore,  prevailing upon the two suspended National Executives of the CPP to view the party as supreme above  their parochial interest,  particularly at this  crucial period when the party is gaining more ground to win the 2016 general election.

Signed by:

Alhaji Baba Hussaini Ibrahim, Regional Chairman of CPP
