Failure by City authorities to sack hawkers on pavements of some major roads in the Tamale Township, has incurred the wrath of serial callers of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region.
They have given the Mayor of Tamale, Alhaji Abdul Hanan Gundado one-week ultimatum, to sack them or else they will organize a demonstration against him.
A statement signed by Secretary to the Northern NPP Serial Callers Association (NEPPSCA), Ahmed Didat, raised concerns about trading activities ongoing on pavements of the Aboabo Market dual carriage, the main taxi station road, and the road leading to the Vodafone offices.
[contextly_sidebar id=”I8vnCThPjCcv5Y6sy6BuWQoeGSTCpERe”]This, according to him, is causing a huge traffic jam and avoidable deaths on the aforementioned roads.
“We are giving the government one-week ultimatum to find solutions to these problems, else we will ignite a glamorous demonstration in the regional capital. Due to the lack of leadership and bad managerial skills on the part of the Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, this has led to all sorts of havoc on the road,” he lamented.
Ahmed Didat stressed that, “this has caused a lot of congestion and traffic jam on that stretch of the road, starting from Alhaji Alhassan Iddrisu storey building to the Aboabo-Zogbeli traffic light.”
