Thierry Henry has left Arsenal following an ultimatum from boss Arsene Wenger to quit his role as pundit on Sky Sports.

Henry was told he had to decide between either continuing his role coaching academy-level youth players at the club’s London Colney traing base or remain one of Sky’s top voices.

The Gunners’ all-time top goalscorer has made his choice and severed ties with the club on a day-to-day basis, according to the Daily Mail.

The move has left many at the club shocked, particularly after Henry offered to remain in the role and work for free.

Henry – who is doing his Pro Licence – had been offered a paid role of assistant manager with the Under 18s by academy head Andries Jonker.

Wenger has spent the summer working for beIN Sport throughout the tournament in France, yet is happy to tell Henry that he must relinquish his TV work.

And while Henry has had to quit his role at Arsenal, he will contimue his role with Sky which is believed to be worth £4million-a-year.
