The suspended National Youth Organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nii Armah Akomfrah, has hinted of a possible lawsuit against the party for suspending him.

The party on Friday appointed two party officials to act as General Secretary and National Youth Organizer respectively, following the suspension of Nii Armah Akomfah and Ernesto Yeboah.

[contextly_sidebar id=”yRcG15oUV1PVBZyiGcLxTiia0IIWbJeL”]Asani Tano, who was a Deputy General Secretary in-charge of administration, will now be acting General Secretary, while Nabila Basiru, a Deputy Youth Organizer, is to act as Youth Organizer.

Speaking on the development on Eyewitness News, Nii Armah Amomfrah argued that, his suspension is unjustifiable since the party failed to state specific reasons for the suspension.

“I have seen the letter suspending me this evening and I have to say that if you are going to suspend a General Secretary of a party, you need to at least give a reason and a need to give very pertinent reasons why you are suspending somebody. This has not been done so in a nut shell, due process has not been followed. I have no issues with my deputies seeking to take over, but we need to get over the issue of due process so the party will get a very serious response from me.”

“This is a very serious issue. It requires a serious reflection. I have done that. I have now received a letter, and frankly, it is very hollow and does not address the issue so I have given it to my lawyers and the next communication with my party will be a legal letter to the party. I have no objections with the party seeking to function, but this is a bigger issue than my title or my function. There is a bigger issue and the question is why we are where we are?”

The party’s Central Committee suspended its General Secretary and the National Youth Organizer, for publicly chastising Mr. Greenstreet for his comment on President Mahama’s Ford expedition gift saga.

Mr. Akomfrah also reiterated his position on the car gift saga, saying President Mahama’s acceptance of the gift is a clear case of conflict of interest and against CHRAJ’s rules, the presidential’s code of ethics and the constitution.”
