The police have said intelligence available to them indicated that, the three were working together, and were part of plans to stir up the decade long chieftaincy-related tensions in Potor which led to the death of one person in May.

The suspects, Kande Bawa, 48, Samed Rauf, 18, and Sumalia Gyaboni 50, who were charged for illegal possession of firearms, made their first appearance in court last week and have since been remanded.

Speaking to Citi News, the Brong Ahafo Regional Police PRO, ASP Christopher Tawiah, explained that “some of the activities we’ve started doing in order to prevent any chaos in the town is that, we are making sure nobody owns a gun in the area or in the community and this is what we are doing.”

He also noted that, the three charged persons will today [Friday], re-appear before a magistrate court in Sunyani to answer to the charges leveled against them.
