The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has denied reports that it has cancelled the results of some schools from this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination, (WASSCE).
According to WAEC, several rumors on social media had indicated that, the Council had scrapped the results of some schools.
[contextly_sidebar id=”KHDs5q8879WwW05jVlSehujKeW39dLiS”]In a statement signed by the Deputy Public Affairs Director, Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, WAEC denied that any such decision had been taken by the Council.
“The Council wishes to state emphatically that it has not cancelled any WASSCE results neither has it issued any statement to that tramadol effect,” the statement said.
WAEC urged all Ghanaians to “disregard the alleged statement as it is not emanating from the Council.”
WASCCE papers leaked
At least, three papers in this year’s WASSCE, including Oral English, Integrated Science and Social Studies, reportedly leaked on social media.
The situation prompted calls for those papers to be cancelled as the credibility of the exams had been compromised.
However, WAEC dismissed these calls, stating that the papers were not leaked and that the candidates only had “foreknowledge” of the questions.
