About 20 graduates from the fashion Department of the Radford University College (RUC) last Saturday trilled fashion lovers with their exquisite clothing line designs.

The event which was held at the Kempiski Hotel in Accra was dubbed the Graduates Fashion Show 2016.

Speaking to Citi Showbiz, Executive Chairman of Radford University College, Nana Dwomoh Sarpong said the annual event is aimed at showcasing to the world the creativity of their students.

He said the university apart from training students also empowers them with employable skills which help them compete with the international world.

“Each student is supposed to provide at least ten designs based on various inspirations. Ghanaians are very talented, so when we train them they can design beautiful clothing and compete with the rest of the world.”

Mr. Dwomoh noted that “when you come to Radford, we train you as a whole person; on how to set up your own business and to be a good entrepreneur. We also make sure that you don’t leave Radford without your own business.”

Fashion Design forms an integral part of RUC’s curricula. The school has produced graduates, some of whom are making it big on the international market.

“We have had so many successes. 2014, we were the best fashion institutions, same in 2015 and one of the best fashion show in the country is organised by us. Some of our students are all over the world, in New York, some at Hollywood. So we are rewarded by all that we do. The students are making exploits. You see Papa Oppong on CNN, Aljazeera, our students are all over the world.”

Mr. Dwomoh said “we have 17 nationals on campus, if you add Ghana, we are 18. We have people coming from even Seychelles and Columbia, if we are not doing something good, they won’t come there. So we are taking fashion to the next level.”
