Breast Care supports KATH, Korle-Bu with drugs

A non-governmental organization, Breast Care International has donated two hundred chemotherapy drugs to the two biggest health facilities in the country; Komfo Anokye and Korle Bu Teaching Hospitals.

The NGO did the donation with support from Janssen Pharmaceuticals.

The gesture according to President of Breast Care International, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai, is to ensure effective healthcare for cancer patients whose disease are usually not covered under the National Health Insurance scheme.

She said the donation forms part of the NGO’s aim of helping the health sector in the country.

The Principal pharmacist at the Pediatric Oncology unit of the Child Health Department at KATH, Paul Obeng who received the drugs on behalf of the two hospitals was grateful to Breast Care International and their partner institutions for the gesture.
