EPP, Library Association donate books to 5 schools

EPP Books Services, in collaboration with the Ghana Library Association have donated text books worth GHc11,000 to five schools in the country.

They include the LA-Nkwantanang Cluster of Schools, Madina, Presby Model School, Amamoma, Catholic Basic School, Okyeso, Police Barracks Primary School and SDA Main, both in Tamale in the Northern Region.

EPP Books Services said the move forms part of its ‘Stock your library’ campaign which seeks to provide books worth GHc5 million to some schools in the country.

Speaking to Citi News after presenting book vouchers to the schools, General Manager of EPP Book, Millicent Brookman-Amissah hinted that, “the invitation is still open and interested schools may contact the Ghana Library Association to access the package.”

“This year marks our 25th anniversary and as part of our 25 years of existence, we want to give back to society. That has made us what we are today,” she added.

According to her, notwithstanding, this initiative aims at “helping children attain high levels in education which reading plays a key role.”

“We are passionate to see the children develop to world standards,” she added.

For her part, President of the Ghana Library Association, Professor Perpetual Dadzie, added that her outfit would continue to equip the reading clubs in various schools with all they need to flourish academically.

“Teachers were trained to man the reading clubs and the handling of books. I believe this is good to encourage the children to read,” she said.

She further advised beneficiaries to take advantage of the project to improve on their reading skills adding that “reading puts you in the right place to improve yourself.”

In all,  book vouchers worth GHc5,000 were handed over to two schools while the remaining three received GHc2,000 vouchers.
