The Ghana National Fire Service has announced its intention to establish three new training schools in the country.
The Chief Fire Officer, Dr. Brown Gaise, explained that two of the new training facilities will be sited at Ejura and Tepa in the Ashanti Region.
The other one he said, will be built at Duayaw Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Dr. Brown Gaise said his administration has started implementing reforms that will make the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) gain international recognition.
“The country has to be categorized into risks zones; high, medium and low risks so that in the event of distributing resources, we will be able to identify very fair distribution of resources. Fire fighting has no boundary, fire also has no boundary.”
He said about a year ago, personnel from the service were sent to Togo to help fight a fire incident at their market.
“About a year ago, we had the opportunity of responding to a fire incident in the Republic of Togo. About five tenders were able to leave Ghana to go and fight fire at the Togo Market and they were full of praise for the fire fighters from Ghana and the President accorded this to us since he had that reciprocal appreciation from the Togolese President,” he added.
The Chief Fire Officer also noted that, despite the challenges they face in terms of resources, they have one of the most efficient fire fighting personnel in Africa.
“I would say that, in spite of all the challenges, Ghana fire service has been recognized as one of the prestigious institutions. The whole of Africa, apart of South Africa that is a member of the world rescue, Ghana is also a member of the world rescue,” Dr. Gaise added.
