The Police in the Upper West Region have intensified their investigations to arrest some young men who set the National Democratic Congress party office in the Wa West District ablaze.

The suspects on Saturday apart from burning the NDC office also destroyed a vehicle belonging to the party’ constituency chairman.

Speaking to Citi News, the Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander, ACP Dr. Shaibu Gariba said that the Police have intensified patrols in the area to arrest the perpetrators of the act.

“Some NDC members were not happy with the appointment of the new DCE for the area and in the bid to register their protest, some mob action ensued and the mob action led to an attack on the NDC office and also burning of the Mahindra pick-up belonging to the NDC chairman of the area.”

He said Police after receiving a distress call moved in swiftly to calm the situation down.

“The Police responded swiftly and the fire was quenched at the NDC office in time but we realized that all the seats in the office were burnt. The vehicle was also burnt. We were able to patrol the place and normalcy has returned to the place. We are immediately launching investigation to fish out the ring leaders to bring them to book,” he added.
