Airtel Ghana, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) trendsetter has fulfilled its promise of helping restore the life of Kwadwo Adu Boahen, who survived electrocution but had both arms amputated, through Airtel Touching Lives, the award winning television CSR programme.

Hannah Agbozo, Corporate Affairs, Legal and Regulatory Director at Airtel Ghana said, “Kwadwo’s prosthetic arms have been fixed and unlike previously, he can now use this hands. The accident which, robbed him of both arms automatically deprived him of his livelihood through his painting and electrical profession and also disabled him from undertaking personal chores. Now he can do all that as his arms have been restored.”

Airtel Ghana’s Managing Director, Lucy Quist, who officially handed over a donation to support the beneficiary’s business and to provide a sustainable livelihood for him and his family said “Airtel Touching Lives has over the years supported many initiatives and individuals by meeting a need in their lives that empowers them to be the change in their communities. We are delighted that our support has restored hope to Kwadwo and his family. Being a conduit for hope in times of challenges, and giving people reasons to believe and to pursue their dreams is exactly what Airtel Touching Lives stands for.”

Receiving the donation from Airtel Ghana’s Managing Director, Lucy Quist and Hannah Agbozo, Kwadwo Adu Boahen said “I am eternally grateful to Airtel Ghana for making such a remarkable change in my life. I had no hope that I will see this day after the unfortunate accident. Today, with my prosthetics I can fully function as I used to and that is a great joy to me and my family. I thank Airtel Ghana also for the cash donation in support of my business. May God continue to bless and prosper the work of Airtel Ghana?”

The Airtel Touching Lives initiative which comes under the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) portfolio, is a television programme aimed at identifying people who are making exceptional impact in their communities and empowering them to expand and scale up their effort for the greater good of their communities.

The programme, the very first to be televised, recounts the stories of people who have been nominated and rewarded for the impact they are making in their communities.

Airtel Ghana has been recognised extensively for its CSR initiatives in education, health, sports and community development. Airtel is Ghana’s fastest growing telecommunication network and the best Data and Internet Service provider in Ghana.
