The Chief Director of the Ministry of Power, Solomon Atiim Asoalla, has been adjudged the best performing Chief Director (CD) for the 2015 reporting year, at an excellence awards night for Chief Directors in Ghana.

The second edition of the award ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Health Spar in Sogakope to recognize and celebrate excellent performance in service delivery.

Out of the 26 chief directors that were appraised in 2015, based on the execution of performance agreements at the various ministries, four were adjudged Very Good. Mr Solomon Atiim Asoalla of the Ministry of Power, took the first position while Professor Thomas Mba Akabza, Ministry of Petroleum, Mr. Enoch Evans Cobblah, Ministry of Education, and Mr Godwin Brocke, Roads and Highways had the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

In his welcome address, the Head of Civil Service, Nana Agyekum Dwamena, gave assurance on the readiness of the Service to ensure smooth transition process after the general elections.

He said “the Service is working on handing over notes to keep proper documentations for the new government in January to avoid unnecessary tensions”.

Mr. Solomon Atiim Asoalla, prior to his appointment as the Chief Director of the Ministry, was the Director of Administration and Finance in the erstwhile Ministry of Energy and Petroleum. He once worked in the Ministry of Education as the Director of Legal Affairs, and later Administration and Finance.

The quartet went home with award plaques and citations.

A citation presented to him by Inusah Fuseini, Minister of Roads and Highways, who was the special guest, acknowledged the enormous roles played by the Chief Director in the new ministry in stabilizing the power situation of the country at a time when the nation was experiencing a severe energy crisis.
