A road crash involving five vehicles at Kadawen in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region today [Friday], is reported to have left one injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 9:30 am when a moving articulated truck crashed into a parked loader vehicle along the road, with the other three vehicles also crushing each other.
The injured person is believed to be a driver of one of the accident cars.
The five vehicles involved were two articulated trucks with registration numbers AS 5282- X and WR 427- 16, a Loader with registration number WR 1495-12, a KIA container with registration number GN 8619-12, and a Hyundai H100, also with registration number WR 1452-10
He said what caused the accident is yet to be established, but noted that they will not rule out faulty brakes.
The accident is said to have blocked traffic on the Takoradi-Tarkwa road for several minutes.
Meanwhile youth of Kadadwen mounted road blocks on the main Takoradi-Tarkwa road in protest against what they described as the lenient approach of the Ghana Highways Authority to mount ramps for the safety of the community.
One passenger told journalists that the community has on several occasions asked authorities to mount speed ramps but that hasn’t happened. He said residents are of the view that many accidents that occur in the area, are caused by the absence of speed ramps.
They thus vowed that until the ramps are constructed, they were not going to allow any vehicle to use the road.
Citi News can confirm that it took some military personnel who visited the area to disperse the angry youth.
