The people of Wiabomah, a community in the Weija-Gbawe constituency, have expressed gratitude to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the area, Obuobia Darko-Opoku for providing pipelines to connect potable water to their homes.

Obuobia in fulfillment of a promise made a year ago, presented 150 PVC pipes to the chief and people of the Wiabomah community to pave way for the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to link them to the national lines.

The project is expected to curb the over 35-year-old water crisis in the community. “I’m a staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, but this gesture has proven to me that Obuobia has us at heart. She deserves our votes,” the chairman of the Residents Association Committee for Wiabomah Nana Owusu told the media after the presentation.

“Our main problem is access to potable water. Our MP who is NPP, Rosemond Abrah, promised to solve our problems, but has failed us. I will urge everyone to vote for Obuobia because the water will benefit everyone whether NPP or NDC. We want to thank her for all she has done for us.”

He added: “I dared her a year ago that if she is able to deliver on this promise I’ll go all out to rally the people to vote for her. It is my turn now to fulfil my side of the bargain. I’m going to campaign for her as a sign of appreciation.”

Obuobia has been conspicuous on the ground with her team, helping with projects that will alleviate the plights of the people.

She has facilitated several projects and also provided countless interventions including the provision of street lights, digging of bore holes, renovating and building of school blocks, mosque, donating of poly tanks to hospitals and building of footbridges among others.
