The Local Government Ministry is to develop a comprehensive road map to address the sanitation issues in the country.

This is after the committee set up by the former sector Minister; Akwasi Oppong Fosu to look into the sanitation problems presented its report.

The former Minister requested the directorate to identify the problem areas in the various regions and recommend ways to solve them.

In an interview with Citi News, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum said: “We are putting it together to come out with a comprehensive report that comprehensive report.”

According to him, the report “is going to take care of particular issues in the various assemblies and we will have a road map to be able to address all these issues.”

The committee which comprised representatives from the Metropolitan Municipal and Deputy Assemblies (MMDAs) from all 10 regions presented an overview of what is happening in sanitation and waste management in the country to the then minister.

The Deputy Minister also disclosed government’s position on sanitation issues saying, “sanitation should be a priority because if we have issue with health in this country it will be a big challenge to this government.”
