Prince Edward visits Asantehene, plants tree in Rattary Park

The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, following his arrival in the country for the Head of State Awards, planted a tree in the Rattary Park, at Kumasi on Wednesday, May 25.

The tree, a symbol of greenness, is to reiterate the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s efforts of re-greening the the city once known as the Garden City.

Prince Edward Anthony Richard Louis, the youngest of four children and the third son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh earlier paid a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace where a rich Kente cloth was presented to him by His Royal Highness Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Earl of Wessex at the Rattary Park took time to interact with Allen the paralytic rider and some school pupils.

In attendance were Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpute; Minister of Youth and Sports Jon Benjamin; British High Commissioner, Henry Morgan Minski; Head of State Awards Board Chair, Alexander Ackon; the Ashanti Regional Minister,  Kojo Bonsu; Major of Kumasi and other dignitaries.
