The Municipal Chief Executive for Adentan, Benjamin Angenu has explained that works on road projects in East Ashiyie stalled because of lack of funds.
Residents demonstrated on Wednesday over the poor road infrastructure, threatening to boycott the general elections if their concerns are not immediately addressed.
They have further given the contractor and government a 14- day ultimatum to return to work else they will advise themselves.

Though he could not give definite day for the project to commences, Mr. Angenu assured to fast track the project.
“I can’t give you a definite answer as to when we will finish but I continue to pledge and do my work as a Chief Executive. I’m assuring them that I will ensure that their problems are solved.”
The MCE said “Adentan is growing at a faster rate and it is impossible that we are able to clear all our problems within a day. We will do that gradually with their support, let them have patience as they’ve always been and together we will be able to lift Adentan high as we expect.”
“With their impatience I understand, we all want to have good things but good things come with endurance. So let us together be one, let’s cooperate and let us be able to come out with whatever we all desire for our lives,” the MCE added.
Meanwhile, the residents say they will follow through with their threats to boycott the elections if the MCE’s assurances are not realized.
“If they don’t come back, I don’t think they are ready to welcome any politician in this community to come and campaign for our votes and we will strongly fighting against bringing any ballot box in this community for any election. I have been voting since 1992, I think it is about time we take the bull by the horn and I think it is the right way to go. We are sending a strong message to the government and any order government that will come. As for this one we are not taking no for an answer.”
