Fire kills 3 children in Nkwanta South

A fire outbreak in the house of a premix fuel salesman has claimed the lives of three children in the Nkwanta South District of the Volta Region.

According to an eyewitness, the salesman, Kwesi Bediako, is known to keep gallons of the fuel in his kitchen which caught fire when his wife was heating some water on the morning of Wednesday, May 25.

The fire, which lasted almost three hours, was brought under control by the district fire service personnel but not before it had led to the death of two of Mr. Bediako’s children and his niece.

Mr. Bediako tried to save his children from the fire and sustained various burn injuries in the process.

He is currently receiving treatment in hospital while the remains of the children have been deposited in a morgue.
