Lawyer for workers of Standard Chartered Bank who were laid off, says he expects the bank to pay all outstanding salaries of his clients before any further engagements with the bank.

His comment comes days after the bank rescinded an earlier decision to terminate the employment of the affected staff.
This also followed a ruling by an Accra High Court that the CEO and the Head of Human Resource, Rosie Ebe-Arthur acted in contempt of a motion of an interlocutory injunction filed which asked them to put on hold the layoffs.
Speaking to Citi Business News Lawyer Prince Fredrick Nii Ashie Neequaye asked Stanchart to do the right thing as his clients are entitled to full salaries and all other allowances being paid to staff.
“The court ruling has led to the bank writing a letter to withdraw the initial letter; which means the bank acknowledges that my clients are workers of the bank,” he explained.
Lawyer Prince Neequaye added, “If they are workers, then they must regain whatever they have lost and I believe that they are entitled to be paid.”
Citi Business News also understands that Standard Chartered Bank has since directed the affected staff to report to the bank’s Opeibea House office Monday, May 23, 2016 for further directions.
Meanwhile Lawyer Prince Fredrick Nii Ashie Neequaye says he and his clients are going to adopt the wait and see attitude as the bank has said they will issue further directions after having called for a meeting with the affected staff.
