The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo Addo may have one cabinet position already filled after he pledged to appoint Alan Kyerematen as his Trade Minister if he wins this year’s general election.
This appointment, if happens, would land Alan Kyerematen in a similar position when he served as the Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development (PSD) under former President Kufuor.

“The plans that he has, the creation of an industrial zone here and the revival of our industry is exactly what we are going to do,” the NPP flagbearer proclaimed.
Mr. Kyerematen, also speaking on the tour in Klikor in the Volta Region, said poverty is a major hurdle to ensuring better standards of living for Ghanaians.
According to him, the building of roads, hospitals and schools were only a stop gap in the fight to eradicate poverty adding that what people really needed were jobs.
“The biggest problem Ghana faces now is how we can reduce poverty is to create jobs and the best way to reduce is to create jobs,” Mr. Kyerematen stated.
He assured that the NPP government will embark on a comprehensive programme of industrialization to provide enough jobs for Ghanaians if the NPP assumes the mantle of leadership.
“When NPP is voted into power again, we are going to embark on a comprehensive and ambitious programme of industrialization never before seen in this country because it is only through industrialization that we can create jobs.”
He also indicated that plans will be put in place to make Ketu North and Ketu South industrial zones.
“If you give the NPP the chance to come into power, Ketu North and Ketu South in particular will be declared an industrial zone.”
