Citi News can confirm that a Ghanaian man yet to be identified is in police grips after he attempted to burn down the Italian embassy in Accra today [Friday], because he was refused a visa.

Reportedly infuriated by the embassy’s decision not to issue him a visa, he went to the embassy at Cantonments on Friday morning with a gas cylinder to perpetuate the alleged crime.

The police moved in swiftly to avert the attack, and the suspect is currently at the Police National headquarters assisting the police in their investigations.

The suspect is said to have thrown stones to the compound of the embassy on Friday morning before he proceeded with the attempted attack.
