The attempts by the Gushegu Police to arrest and punish perpetrators of Wednesday’s deadly clashes in Yiyamba and Biremba communities are becoming fruitless as almost all the residents have fled both towns.

The Police say not even women and children can be found in both communities.

Gushegu District Police Commander, ASP Stephen Paa Yeboah told Citi News, “we just returned from the towns together with the military and we didn’t meet anybody so we don’t know where they are hiding.”

The two communities clashed over a parcel of land which resulted in the death of three persons while others sustained gunshot wounds.

Some houses in both communities were torched as well.

According to the Police, the clash was initiated by the Yiyambas who attacked the Birembas and burnt down all their houses.

A reprisal attack from the Birimbas left three dead and another individual injured.

The contention over the parcel of land is said to have been existing for years.

ASP Yeboah said it has become impossible to make an arrest since both towns are empty but added his men will keep patrolling the towns till the residents return.

“We will use some modus operandi to arrest them” said ASP Yeboah, “we are waiting for their arrival they will by all means come back.”
