The Brong Ahafo Regional 1st  Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Thomas Adu Appiah, has condemned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his party the NPP, for the violence that characterized the just ended limited voters’ registration exercise at Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region.

He said it is unacceptable for party supporters from both the NDC and NPP to be wielding machetes and weapons at each other and hence must be condemned without any consideration.

[contextly_sidebar id=”tmLVgptfyJVstLDrNtyi6LWfeAc0ozge”]Mr. Adu Appiah, also known as Chairman Toma, a native of Nkoransah, was reacting to the clashes that occured during the last day of the limited registration exercise in the town, resulting in injuries to several persons, and the subsequent arrest of two activists of the two main parties.

At around 4:00pm on Sunday May 8, supporters of the two parties armed themselves wielding machetes and other offensive weapons at each other.

But for the timely intervention of the military and the police, lives could have been lost.

Whiles the NPP is accusing Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, a Deputy Local Government Minister for bringing thugs to beat up their members, the NDC is also accusing the NPP for the incident.

The Nkoransah Police Commander, DSP Joseph Owusu Yeboah, has indicated that the two  arrested would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
