The Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has decided to continue with its strike in spite of the National Labour Commission’s (NLC) order to call it off.

The NLC held a meeting with POTAG in order to convince POTAG to call off the strike but the two parties failed reach a consensus.

POTAG has been on strike for two weeks demanding the payment of their book and research allowance.

According to the Association, government has not shown commitment to resolving their concerns.

The Association therefore ordered its members to withdraw all their services until government address their concerns.

POTAG has said it will only resume work if government pays them their allowance.

Speaking to Citi News, the President of the Association, Mr. Dugra said the strike the strike will continue until government shows commitment to paying their allowances.

“We are not convinced about the stance of NLC because we followed the due processes to arrive at a conclusion of declaring a strike but we have decided that looking at the stance of stakeholders, it seems our matter is not a matter to them so the strike still continues until when we feel government is showing commitment to paying our book and research allowance,” he said.
