Global Media Alliance, an integrated Communications Company, has launched the maiden edition of Ghana Beverage Awards (GBA) in Accra.

Launched via live broadcast last Thursday, on Accra-based radio and television stations Citi FM and ETV Ghana, the GBA is an awards scheme which aims to honour excelling beverage stakeholders in Ghana.

The awards, to be held later in August this year, will be the first of its kind in Ghana. It is anticipated to attract all stakeholders in the beverage industry in Ghana. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Inspiring excellence in the beverage industry in Ghana.”

Speaking at the launch, Head of Creatives and Productions at Global Media Alliance, Mr J.O.T Agyeman said “The beverage industry is pivotal in the sustenance and development of Ghana’s economy. As a huge revenue generating industry, it supports the country in employment creation, service delivery and more”. “Observing that this fact has been on the quiet for many years, GMA finds it necessary to honour beverage producers for their service to the nation”, he added.

Global Media Alliance will be collaborating with recognised institutions such as the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Food Research Institute (FRI) under CSIR, Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) and will also include established research organisations such as the Food Research Institute (FRI) in organising the Ghana Beverage Awards.

Mr Agyeman also said, “Through the awards scheme, the regulators of beverages such as the FDA and GSA can help enforce sanity and healthy practices in the beverage industry”.

There will be a call for entries and registration in the coming days. The public will also be allowed to participate in the awards by voting for the product of the year.

Beverage producers are hereby encouraged to participate in this event to celebrate Ghana’s thriving beverage industry.
