Tuesday’s rains have flooded and destroyed some homes in the Anyaa area near Pokuase.

The residents are blaming the flooding on the abandoned road works in the area and the negligence of the Department of Urban Roads in the supervision of road constructions in the locality.

The Department of Urban Roads (DUR) is dedicated to the creation of decentralized road units in the Metropolitan/Municipal/District assemblies (MMDAs) for the provision and management of the urban road network in support of quality transport systems.

One of the residents, Richard Asamoah-Asare in an interview with Citi News stated that the flood had caused severe damage to his home.

“The four walls of my house have broken down; my bed and living rooms are flooded. I just rushed from the office to see the extent of the damage. The contractor has abandoned the project, the roads were not tarred so when it rains it comes down the valley into our houses”, he lamented.

No casualty was however recorded.
