Flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Greenstreet, has stated that a CPP government will focus on supporting the growth of indigenous Ghanaian businesses rather than focusing on multi-national firms, as one of the surest ways to tackle the rising unemployment.

The CPP has been advocating on the to use the state’s power to do more for the people especially at the indigenous level which it says will bring an end to unemployment in the country.

“One of the biggest problem is not only how workers have been treated or how poorly workers have been paid, but the fact that so many people are without work. The Convention People’s Party is a party that believes in the state’s power to do more for indigenous Ghanaian businesses and the local pilot businesses not for multi nationals and we believe that’s a sure way of creating employment and opportunities.”

All working people of Ghana joined millions across the world to mark the annual May Day celebration.

The event, which was dubbed: “Election 2016: The Role of Workers in Securing Peaceful Elections for National Development” was held at the Jubilee Park in Wa in the Upper West Region, with President John Dramani Mahama as the special guest of honor.
