Family of the late Vice President Aliu Mahama has supported the Nyohini Children’s Home in Tamale with items worth thousands of cedis.
The items included 10 bags of rice, assorted drinks, detergents, toiletries and some confectionary.
The family also gave GHC300.00 to Kofi Yeboah, one of the oldest orphans to further his education.
The family in addition organized a get together for the children at the forecourt of the Orphanage.
Son of the late Vice President, Farouk Mahama made the donation as part of his 35th birth day celebration.
He explained that the gesture was meant to resurrect his late father’s campaign against indiscipline in society.
Farouk Mahama admonished the youth to be disciplined in order to become responsible citizens.
Farouk Mahama promised to continually support the children who are confronted with myriad challenges at the Orphanage.
Director of the Nyohini Children’s Home, Mrs. Augustine Quainoe thanked Farouk Mahama for rekindling his late father’s humanitarian services.
She said the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama in life immeasurably contributed towards the upkeep of the children.
Mrs. Augustine Quainoe appealed to benevolent organizations and Philanthropists to assist the Orphanage pay utility bills.
She also complained about encroachment on the Orphanage’s land called for enough resources to complete the fence.
Donation to Hajia Mariam’s Arabic School
Farouk Mahama similarly donated some appreciable number of the Holy Quran, ablution cans and prayer mats to Hajia Mariam Alolo’s Islamic Centre at Sabonjida.
He praised the Proprietor, Hajia Mariam Alolo for her forethought and pledged his commitment to modify their structures.
Farouk Mahama urged Hajia Mariam Alolo to continue to inspire Muslim women to occupy their rightful positions in society.
Hajia Ayi on behalf of the management of the Islamic Centre commended Farouk Mahama for his generosity.
Special Quranic Recitation
As part of the anniversary, Muslim Clerics led by Sheikh Alhaji Baba Repairer organized a special Quranic recitation in memory of the late Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
They recounted his achievements as a distinguished son of the north and implored the youth to emulate him.
