EWN launched in Ghana (photos)

Six women in the business world have come together to launch the Executive Women Network (EWN) in Accra. The initiative is committed to a progressive approach of enabling women to achieve their professional goals and fulfill their personal dreams.

EWN is the first of its kind in Ghana, and will be a home base for women to grow their professional skills and build important networks.

Its mission is to influence and drive policy changes that seek to increase the representation of women in senior leadership positions in Ghana.

EWN’s mission is also aligned with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 5 that seeks gender equality and empowerment for all women and girls.

Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa Ltd, Madam Esther Cobbah stated that the network will also seek to signal women to draw each other’s experiences and wealth of knowledge to grow together and excel in any sphere they venture into.

‘‘I believe that by forming a strategic network such as this Executive Women Network, it is signalling that women can draw on each other’s experiences and wealth of knowledge to grow together and excel in whatever sphere they operate in,’’ she said.

She added that, ‘‘the founders of this Network have access to world-class resources and opportunities that can benefit not only other women but Ghanaian society at large.’’

Climaxing the Launch were the founders including,  Maidie Arkutu  the MD of Unilever Ghana, Freda Duplan, the MD of  Nestle Ghana , and Patience Akyianu, MD for Barclays Bank, Ghana.

The rest were   Edith Dankwa the MD of B&FT,  Lucy Quist, MD for Airtel Ghana, and Pearl Mensah, founder and MD, Feniks Ltd.
