Government is expected to have a final meeting with the  leadership of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSSAG) over their salary concerns.

JUSSAG embarked on an industrial action last month, citing government’s failure to implement a new salary structure approved by the Judicial Council months ago.

[contextly_sidebar id=”LeDDhjQawKKQcAXZfOJ527vm1OTvMOie”]Labour Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, intervened and promised resolving the issues.

Following the assurance, JUSSAG called off an intended strike and resumed discussions with government.

Speaking to Citi News, President of the Association, Alex Nartey, said the negotiation with government is going well so far.

“Government came in to request us to meet them, the meeting has commenced. We met on the 8th of April and at the meeting government requested for one week to do some crosschecks with some of the information we provided. So we are looking forward for a meeting this week to conclude the discussions. Our ultimate expectation is that, we will get to a point where government sees reason in the point we have made over the period and implement same for us, so that’s what we are looking for,” he added.

No need remaining on strike

JUSSAG had earlier said there was no point remaining on strike following government’s assurances.

“Following our meeting with the Labour Minister and the commitment government has shown to us and the fact that the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana is not just interested in strikes, we have called off the industrial action and we are restoring our rank and file to post on Monday,” Mr. Nartey added.
