The Ligue 1 clash between Lyon and Nice was temporarily suspended after thousands of pieces of PAPER were thrown onto the pitch.
Supporters threw waste paper onto the pitch in the 70th minute at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
But the severe wind in France ensured that the debris was spread across a large area of the playing surface, forcing the referee to call a halt to the action.
Stewards were called in to remove the paper, with some using leaf blowers and others using rakes to ensure that the pitch was playable once again.
In total, the match was delayed for nearly eight minutes.
The wait was worth it for Lyon fans, however, who saw their side score a late equaliser through Alexandre Lacazette.
After going down to 10-men in the first-half with Maxwel Cornet’s dismissal for a high tackle, Lacazette provided a cool finish from close range to level the tie.
It was prolific striker Lacazette’s 19th goal of another impressive campaign in Ligue 1.
He cancelled out the header of Nice’s Valere Germain, who had given the visitors the lead in the 18th minute.
