The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a swipe at Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, describing him as a failed leader.

The NPP’s assertion comes days after Mr. Amissah Arthur launched a scathing attack on the party, saying it was incapable of managing the country.

[contextly_sidebar id=”6D5BosVSCP4lxUOTNmUS3h9iKlXaqjKn”]Speaking at the launch of a group calling itself “Young professionals for John Mahama and Amissah Arthur”, at the campus of the University of Professional Studies, the Vice President stated that the failure of the NPP leadership to handle their internal issues clearly shows they can’t manage the country.

“And as you’ve heard elections are decisions for the future because our next leader must take us forward and our next leader must take us forward on four principles. The first principle is of leadership and the leadership that they are talking about is the leadership of our party, how we’ve kept it together against others who are not able to keep theirs together.”

“Our leadership of the nation makes it stable and unified. So there’s a test of leadership when we go to the elections on November 7. Are we selecting a leader who is able to keep his house in order? Are we selecting a leader who is bringing confusion within his party? Are we selecting a leader who has a vision for his people for the nation?” the Vice President stated.

But a member of NPP’s communication team, Ibrahim Adjei , in a sharp rebuttal on Citi FM’s news analysis programme , The Big Issue, said the Vice President lacks the moral right to criticize the NPP since he had totally failed to resolve the various economic challenges confronting the nation under the Mahama-led administration.

“On Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, he is talking about leadership but he has failed as a leader. He has totally failed and sometimes you wonder why our economy is where it is”

“It is interesting to hear Paa Kwesi Arthur say these things …somebody who has been comatose for the past four years . He has been asleep, we have not heard from him for sometime now.”

Mr. Adjei wondered what the Vice President, who once served as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana before his political appointment, “had brought to the table in terms of his expertise as the head of the government’s economic management team.”
