Despite facing stiff competition from car garage operators across the country, leading retail automobile dealer, Mac Autos and Spare Parts Limited—Ghana, has disclosed that the company is doing well and poised to maximize its margins.

According to the company, it has built a reputation in the sale of quality spare parts and its brand cars, Isuzu and Chevrolet to its clients.

Speaking to Citi Business News at the launch of its new ‘Chevrolet Cruze’ in Accra, the Country Manager Raman Malhotra stated that Ghana has a huge market for brand new cars.

‘‘ We know that there  is a large part of the Ghanaian market that still want used cars, but there is a segment that is  improving  every passing month that wants brand new cars” , he said.

He stated that the growing segment that demands brand new cars seek to maximise the efficiency of such cars through using it for a long time.

Touching on the efficiency of the car, Mr. Malhotra stated that the Cruze brand has penetrated the USA and Asian market perfectly, hence will do same in Ghana.

“Cruze has been doing well not just in the African market but the US markets, Chinese markets and the Indian markets. It will do very well in Ghana”, he said.

He pointed out that the car has a special feature that does not require a key to start the ignition.

“Peps is one of the latest feature that is not common on the Ghanaian market. It allows you to have a passive entry and passive start. You just have to press a button”, he said.

He added that the car also has a sun roof designed for tropic areas such as Ghana.

Speaking at the event, a Minister of State at the Presidency, Mr. Akwasi Oppong Fosu encouraged investors in the automobile industry to invest in Ghana.

He assured that government is  creating an enabling environment to urge investors to invest in the industry.
