The Ministry of Health has described as needless, the planned demonstration by the Coalition of Unemployed nurses. The unemployed nurses have planned to hit the streets again at the end of this month, following what they say is government’s failure to post them to the various hospitals across the country.
According to members of the coalition, the Ministry of Health after a promise eight months ago, is still dragging its feet.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry, Tony Goodman told Citi News that the process to start posting them will begin immediately.
He explained that the Ministry posted new nurses to various facilities across the country, and had to ensure that the process was completed before new ones are posted hence the seeming delay in recruitment.
Mr. Goodman further urged the unemployed nurses to exercise restraint since they would certainly be posted.
“We have not finished the processes regarding those we’ve already processed. We are only waiting to complete that process then those who have just completed school, will also go and buy forms and then clearance will be sort for them,” he added.
“…You cannot just be posting people to the hospitals without knowing their requirements, so immediately that is done, the forms will be released for everybody to buy for employment. I’m pleading with them to exercise some restraint because I don’t want us talking about demonstrations now. I’m pleading with them on behalf of the Minister of health while they go through the process of recruiting them.”
