The Ghana National Fire Service has revoked the fire permit of a fuel station under construction, for flouting the fire regulations for commercial buildings.

The fuel station, located at Weija, had its fire permit revoked after the fire service visited the station on Friday April 8,2016 for an inspection tour.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Ebenezer Simpson who spoke to Citi Business News after the inspection tour warned it will revoke the fire permits of all commercial centers that flout the fire regulation.

According to him, the law requires all public centers to have adequate fire safety measures to the reduce extent of damage in case of fire.

Explaining to Citi Business News why it revoked the fuel station’s license Ebenezer Simpson said “the fuel station is under construction, we realized that they have altered the drawings that they gave to the fire service for fire permit to be issued.

Our findings indicates that they have changed the location which was earmarked for their tanks and again the wall of the fuel station is very close to an adjoining building.

They have constructed a wall which is even taller than the adjoining building and for that matter creating inconveniences for their neighbor.

So we have revoked the permit given to them for altering the drawing they gave us”. He said.
